March 5, 2006 Day of Prayer

March 5, 2006 Day of Prayer

I. Christian Doctrine and Biblical Truth

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life (1 John 5:20).

Praise God for what we know doctrinally
- he is the true God
- he is Three-Persons-in-One
- Jesus Christ is the Son of God incarnated
- in Christ is eternal life
- Christ is the propitiation for our sins

Pray
- for truth to be preached in our pulpit
- for Tenth’s missionary endeavors to spread truth
- of Tenth’s ministries and members to spread the truth
- for the elders responsible to assure orthodox teaching
- for theological truth to make a real difference in how we live
- that we may bear witness to the truths of Christ

II. Personal Godliness and Progress in Sanctification

By this we may be sure that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked (1 John 2:5b-6).

Praise God
- for forgiving us of sin
- that he who is in us is greater than he who is in the world
- for the victory he gives us to overcome the world

Pray
- for holiness
- that we will build one another up in holiness
- that God will open our eyes to our own hearts
- for the elders who must lead exemplary lives before the church
- for the elders who must shepherd their people to walk in godliness
- that we may bear witness to Philadelphia our commitment to Christ

III. Church Body Life and Christian Love

And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother (1 John 4:21).

Praise God
- that he first loved us
- for the love shown to us through Christ’s atoning work on the cross
- for love that cannot fail or end

Pray
- that we may love our brother/sister in real, practical ways
- that we may forgive and seek forgiveness
- that we may love the brother/sister “different” from us
- that as a church we may excel in love
- that we may bear witness to Philadelphia the love of Christ
